Zoopla accidentally overvalues home located in Stornoway in Lewis by around £13.85m
A wayward algorithm on online property portal Zoopla accidentally overvalued a home located in Stornoway in Lewis, Scotland to the tune of around £13.85m.
Annabel and Dan MacDonald, owners of the semi-detached property which wasn't even up for sale, told the BBC they think its real value is actually closer to £150,000.
The hefty price tag would still be considered steep in London's more expensive neighbourhoods like Kensington and Chelsea – and it's way above the average house price in Stornoway which is £121,814 according to Zoopla.
"It is not on the market – I can't understand how they have reached that valuation," Annabel MacDonald said.
"I wish it was worth over £14m."
Zoopla said that a technical glitch was behind the mistake on its website.
