Yahoo chief executive says he is sorry for embroidering his CV
YAHOO chief executive Scott Thompson has apologised to his staff after being criticised for padding his CV.
His apology came as Patti Hart, the Yahoo director who oversaw Thompson’s appointment, decided not to stand for re-election.
In an internal memo to employees, the tech boss said: “I want you to know how deeply I regret how this issue has affected the company and all of you.
“We have all been working very hard to move the company forward and this has had the opposite effect. For that, I take full responsibility, and I want to apologise to you.”
The memo followed a demand from hedge fund Third Point, which holds a 5.8 per cent stake in Yahoo, that the company turns over all records relating to Thompson’s hiring.
It emerged last week that Thompson, Yahoo’s fourth chief in five years, claimed falsely to have a certain degree on his CV while applying for the Yahoo job.
The degree in computing science from Stonehill College was not available when Thompson was at university.
