GENERATOR hire company Aggreko yesterday appointed WS Atkins chief executive Professor Dr Uwe Krueger as a non-executive director.
Uwe, who takes up his new post on 1 February, has been chief executive of the design and engineering consultancy group since August 2011.
Most of his career has been spent leading engineering and consulting organisations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
He is also on the boards of energy investment firm SUSI Partners and hygiene product manufacturer Ontex, and lectures at the University of Frankfurt on renewable energy.
Past roles include being chief executive of Oerlikon, which specialises in high-tech machine and plant engineering; director of Texas Pacific Group, a private equity investment firm; president of sustainability outfit Cleantech Switzerland; and various leadership positions at Hochtief.
He began his career at AT Kearney, an international strategy consulting firm.
Aggreko chairman Ken Hanna said: “We are delighted that Uwe will be joining the Aggreko board. Uwe’s experience in the engineering and services sector, combined with his understanding of renewable energy, will bring further expertise to the Aggreko board. We look forward to working with him.”
