Kaita gets death threats
NIGERIA officials say midfielder Sani Kaita is “terribly shaken” after receiving more than 1,000 death threats.
Kaita received threats by email from angry Nigerians after he was sent off in their 2-1 defeat to Greece on Thursday.
Spokesman Peterside Idah said: “The team is urging the authorities in Nigeria to take measures to protect him.”
Mine blast sparks bomb fears
A LOUD blast in Johannesburg sparked fears of a terrorist attack – but turned out to be a controlled mining explosion.
Reverberations were heard at the Soccer City stadium, where Brazil later beat Ivory Coast. A police statement called it “nothing more than a controlled explosion by a local manufacturer of explosives, testing new products”.
