Tiger Woods shoots lowest round for two seasons at Wyndham Championship
Fallen former world No1 Tiger Woods has rekindled hopes that his days as a golfing force may not be over by shooting his lowest round since 2013 yesterday on the PGA Tour.
Woods, who has plummeted to 187th in the rankings, carded a 64 at the Wyndham Championship – a tournament he needs to win to reach the lucrative end-of-season FedEx Cup Playoffs.
The 39-year-old declared himself pleased with both his iron play and putting after holing seven birdies and just one bogey.
“They were both solid today,” he said. “It’s nice to finally get something out of a round; a round that could have been two to four under par, it’s finally six.”
His latest sign of resurgence came after US PGA Championship winner Jason Day admitted Woods no longer instils fear in his rivals.
“It’s hard to say this, but I don’t think he gets that as much now because the other guys are so young and confident,” said Day.
