Woman suffering life threatening injuries, three others injured, after West London knife attack
One woman has sustained "life-threatening" injuries and three others injured during an apparently unprovoked attack in west London this morning.
Officers were called to The Avenue, in Hampton just after 10:30am, where they found three women suffering from knife wounds in a Sainsbury's car park.
A fourth woman was subsequently found at a nearby property – she was airlifted to a major trauma centre in a nearby hospital.
The London Ambulance Service has treated the three other women for stab wounds to the chest, legs and back, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. They were then taken by road to a south London hospital "as priority".
A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody at a south-west London police station.
A taser was deployed during his arrest; but it was not discharged.
Police said they did not believe the incident was terror-related. Enquiries are ongoing.
One eyewitness told the BBC: "He only went for the women. The man ran through and started attacking them. It didn't seem like they knew him – it was completely unprovoked."
