Wireless phone charging offered at London Starbucks on Moorgate, Princes Street, Kingsway and seven other city locations
Coffee loving phone addicts rejoice.
Wireless phone charging is coming to Starbucks in London after the service proved successful in the US.
Lucky Londoners near 10 Starbucks in the capital will be able to top up their battery at the same time they pop in to grab a coffee.
It’s great news for anyone who panics at the mere thought of the five per cent battery level flashing on their phone.
Customers can pick up a “ring” at the till point along with their coffee which connects to their phone. When placed on one of the special powermats at any of the tables in store, the magic begins, all without wires and at no extra cost.
Locations at Princes Street, Kingsway, Wardour Street, Pentonville Road, Harewood Place, Berkeley Street, Great Portland Street, Moorgate, Fleet Street, and Euston Tower will have wireless by the end of January, with further plans to expand it elsewhere.
Starbucks vice president of marketing and category for Europe Ian Cranna, said: “We have always tried to anticipate our customers’ needs and innovate with technology to provide even more convenience. Our partnership with powermat demonstrates Starbucks response to an increasing need to stay connected whilst on the go. We’re delighted to be the first to launch Powermat wireless charging in ten London stores and look forward to customers being able to charge their phones wirelessly in many more stores soon.”
After the concept began life in San Francisco last summer, it's a US import Brits are likely to welcome.
