Wilkinson in, Cipriani out
ENGLAND manager Martin Johnson has recalled record points scorer Jonny Wilkinson to the 32-man elite player squad in favour of Wasps’ Danny Cipriani.
Wilkinson, who left Newcastle for Toulon earlier this summer, and Brive’s Riki Flutey are the only France-based players in the party.
Cipriani, 21, started last season as England’s first choice No10 but fell out of favour and has to make do with a place in the Saxons squad. He is joined by Lewis Moody and Paul Sackey, while James Haskell, Tom Palmer and Tom May, who have all joined French clubs, do not even make the Saxons party.
Elite player squad: S Armitage, S Borthwick, G Chuter, J Crane, T Croft, L Deacon, N Easter, D Hartley, B Kay, L Mears, T Payne, T Rees, S Shaw, A Sheridan, P Vickery, J White, D Wilson, J Worsley; D Armitage, M Banahan, D Care, M Cueto, H Ellis, T Flood, R Flutey, D Hipkiss, P Hodgson, U Monye, O Morgan, M Tait, M Tindall, J Wilkinson.
