Wikileaks to out alleged tax dodging companies
THE WHISTLEBLOWER at the centre of a fresh Wikileaks scandal will today appear in a Zurich court charged with violating Swiss banking law.
Rudolf Elmer, a former executive at Julius Baer, one of Switzerland’s top private banks, yesterday handed over a CD listing the details of 2,000 allegedly tax dodging individuals and firms to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Elmer will today answer charges of bank secrecy violations, after he passed on an earlier dossier of clients’ data to Wikileaks in 2007.
Elmer, who was dismissed as chief operating officer by the bank in the Cayman Islands in December 2002, also claimed the disc contained information about 40 politicians.
Assange said he could publish the data within two weeks.
