Yves Masson has been appointed to the position of chief executive of personal direct and partnerships at the UK division of the insurance and asset management group. He has worked at Axa since 1985, and was most recently chief executive of Axa Direct Assurance. Masson has also previously served as chief executive of Axa Assistance.
Close Brothers Asset Management
Penny Lovell has been appointed head of private client strategies at the asset management firm. She joins from Rothschilds, where she was managing director and senior client relationship manager. Lovell has 18 years’ experience working with private clients. She started her career at Friends Provident, and has held senior roles at Coutts and Fleming Family & Partners.
TDR Capital
The private equity firm has appointed Brian Magnus as a partner. He joins from Morgan Stanley, where he has run its European private equity business since 2007. Magnus qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1991, and also subsequently worked in mergers and acquisitions for Schroders.
RBC Wealth Management
Steve Sokic has been appointed head of ultra high net worth, trust, fiduciary and tax at the wealth division of the Royal Bank of Canada. He joined RBC’s trust operation in the Bahamas in 2002, and was most recently its Jersey-based trust director. Sokic began his career at Deloitte.
Sackers
The specialist pensions law firm has recruited Sonya Fraser as a solicitor. She joins from Allen & Overy, where she was a pensions associate and advised on corporate and trustee clients on all aspects of UK pensions law.
Pramerica Real Estate Investors
Michael Gallagher has been appointed as an associate portfolio manager in Pramerica’s real estate securities team. He was most recently an assistant fund manager at Aviva Investors. Gallagher has also worked as an equity analyst at Citigroup and Deutsche Bank.
Standard Bank
The African bank has appointed Timothy Ash as head of emerging markets research. He joins from Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was global head of emerging markets research. Ash has also previously held senior roles at Bear Stearns, West LB and Caspian Securities.
Janus Capital
The international arm of Janus Capital Group has appointed Karen Bennett to the position of head of marketing and communications for its non-US business. She was previously head of corporate communications at Aegon Asset Management, and has also worked at ING.
