Where’s Jony? Apple designer Ive goes offline
APPLE’S chief design wizard Sir Jony Ive sent the tech world into a spin yesterday when he disappeared from the company’s online list of executives.
The Apple rumour mill went into overdrive: “Has he been poached by Microsoft?” “Has he quit over the Flappy Bird clone ban?” “Has he moved back to the UK to be a shepherd?”
It turned out, to widespread relief, to be a technical glitch – Apple explained it was in the process of updating executive profiles, and sure enough, Jony came back (as most wizards do) after a few hours of absence. Apple fanboys thanked their lucky iPods.
He certainly wasn’t updating his photo though (pictured below) – he still sticks out like a sore thumb as the only executive not smiling – the Posh Spice to chief exec Tim Cook’s Baby Spice – proving sunny California hasn’t affected the Chingford native too much.
The more observant among you may have noticed that someone had an altogether more successful website update yesterday – cityam.com of course! City A.M: 1, Apple: 0.
