WHAT DO YOU THINK OF BA COMPARED TO VIRGIN?
HOWARD WHEELDON BGC PARTNERS
If Virgin Atlantic has managed to ‘steal’ customers away from other airlines such as BA and still been able to prove that it can make a half decent profit – albeit at miserably low margins – it would appear somewhat mean if I were not to offer congratulations to the airline founder for this seemingly splendid result.

It is important to bear in mind that BA had some difficulties earlier in the year with the launch of Terminal 5, which dissuaded a lot of business-class passengers from flying with the airline. It’s natural they would have lost some market share to Virgin, but we still have a ‘buy’ on it and it will pull back.
MARK PRIEST ETX CAPITAL
After BA’s crash landing last week it comes as some surprise that Virgin Atlantic is flying high. A 96 per cent increase in profits, partially driven by increases in premium passengers, seems to buck the trend of many. But the markets won’t be fooled – the last quarter has not been short of turbulence for Virgin.
