Wawrinka gets Queen’s invite
REIGNING Australian Open champion and world No3 Stanislas Wawrinka has been given a wild card to next month’s Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club.
Wawrinka, who lost his first round match at the French Open earlier this week, is set to warm up for Wimbledon at the grass court event in west London, which begins on 9 June.
He said: “I love London, I love the atmosphere. It is an important tournament with a lot of history and playing at the Queen’s Club gives me the best possible chance to become comfortable on grass.”
Dan Evans, James Ward and Marcos Baghdatis have been awarded the other wild cards so far to the main draw, which includes Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych.
