Watson enjoys landmark win
BRITISH No1 Heather Watson claimed her first win over an opponent in the world’s top 10 last night when she defeated Agnieszka Radwanska at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.
World No43 Watson broke Radwanska, ranked 35 places above her, five times on her way to winning 6-4, 6-4 to continue a promising start to her season.
“I’ve played her quite a few times and she’s beaten me comfortably every single time,” said the 22-year-old. “So I knew I was going to have to bring my A-game and play my very best and that’s what I did.”
