Walthamstow fire: 100 firefighters battle shopping centre blaze
A blaze engulfed the roof of a shopping centre in Walthamstow this morning, with 15 fire engines and 100 firefighters tackling the fire.
Witnesses posted pictures of the fire spreading at The Mall in Walthamstow, east London, today, with part of the shopping centre’s roof having caught alight.

The cause is not yet known, a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said.
“There is a lot of smoke so we would advise local residents to keep their doors and windows closed while crews tackle the fire,” station manager Steve Smith warned.
“There are local road closures in place so motorists should avoid the area where possible.”
Fire crews were called to the scene at 7.40am as part of the roof of the two-storey building caught aflame.
“There is a serious fire in central #walthamstow being tackled by @LondonFire roads are closed in the area,” Waltham Forest Council tweeted.
It also warned of “significant disruption” for people and motorists, warning them to avoid the area.
Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy added that there was a “serious fire”!, urging residents to “keep backk from the area and lets help the fire brigade do their job”
The Mall warned customers it is closed as firefighters deal with the incident.
