Vanguard’s US staff get $1,000 vaccine bonus: Will it come to the UK?
Vanguard is to pay $1,000 to each of its 16,500 US staff should they prove they are fully vaccinated by October.
The bonus includes those who were jabbed prior to the company making the generous offer.
However, the offer will not be extended to employees of the asset management firm in Europe, it was announced.
A spokesperson for Vanguard UK told City A.M. that an “employment law iteration” prevented employees in the UK and Europe from receiving the same offer.
Vanguard’s decision follows the lead of a number of US firms who are ensuring they have a fully vaccinated workforce.
Microsoft and Google have mandated all of their staff get vaccinated.
While Blackrock, a fellow investment firm, has forbidden unvaccinated employees from entering the offices since July.
A spokesperson for Vanguard said vaccines were the “best way” to stop the spread of Covid-19, which is currently rampant in the United States.
“As such, we are offering a vaccine incentive for crew [staff] who provide Covid-19 vaccination proof,” the spokesperson said.
“The incentive recognises crew who have taken the time to protect themselves, each other, and our communities by being vaccinated.”
