The US Open increased its winner's prize money by 10 per cent from last year's $3m to $3.3m from a record-breaking pool of $42.3m – the most prize money on offer from any Grand Slam.
Murray won his first Grand Slam at the US Open in 2012, but a victory at this year's tournament would entitle the Scot to a paycheck $1.4m larger than what he earned then.

With four ATP Tour titles and 56 wins so far this year, Murray has already earned $5.6m in prize money. His previous highest haul came in his US Open victory winning year in 2012 when he took home $5.7m.
