Unite warns of yet more BA walkouts
UNITE, the union representing striking British Airways (BA) cabin crew, is preparing to launch a fresh strike ballot that could affect travel in July.
The union warned yesterday that preparations for a new ballot were at an advanced stage and would be launched if no agreement with BA is reached.
A new ballot is likely to take six weeks to carry out, meaning that if Unite is successful, one of BA’s busiest periods will be hit by strike action.
Len McCluskey, Unite assistant general secretary, said: “Comments [by BA’s management] about ‘holding out’ for as long as it takes against the workforce should cause despair among BA board and shareholders.”
A spokesperson from BA said the airline is available at anytime for talks.
BA crew returned to work this morning after completing the final day of a 15-day strike period.
