UK jobless numbers fall
UK unemployment fell by 7,000 to 2.59m in the three months to July, according to official figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The rate of unemployment fell by 0.1 per cent to 8.1 per cent.
In addition, the number of people claiming unemployment benefit fell by 15,000 in August, the largest fall since June 2010.
The ONS said that the Olympic Games had helped to create jobs and bring unemployment down over the summer period.
