UK inflation expectations tick up
The UK public’s forecasts for inflation ticked up in January, according to a YouGov poll out yesterday. Respondents think inflation will be 2.8 per cent over the coming year, up from 2.7 per cent in December – and 0.8 percentage points above the Bank of England’s target. Over the next five to 10 years the public thinks inflation will average 3.4 per cent annually.
