Twitter’s first-ever subscription service goes live
Twitter today rolled out Twitter Blue, its first subscription service, in Australia and Canada. Users will pay either $3.49 CAD or $4.49 AUD depending on location for access to new features.
The service includes features such as a reader mode, the ability to “undo” or edit sent tweets for 30 seconds before they are published, and bookmark folders.
The social media giant reaffirmed its commitment to offering the platform free of charge, saying “a free Twitter is not going away, and never will. This subscription offering is simply meant to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who want it.”
Twitter currently has not announced when the subscription service will go live in other countries.
The roll out of Twitter Blue follows Twitter reopening its service for requesting verification, in the form of a blue tick by a user’s name, last month.
