Tube chaos: Commuters complain of overcrowding after Northern Line suspended
Londoners have faced a chaotic commute this morning after the Northern Line was suspended.
A signal failure meant there was no southbound service between Moorgate and Kennington, and no northbound service between Kennington and Charing Cross.

Transport for London recommended commuters avoid the line where possible, and use other routes.
But travellers complained of severe overcrowding at stations after they used alternative methods of getting to work.

Such was the extent of overcrowding that TfL closed several stations, including Balham in south London.
