Troika will end Greek bailout without more spending details
THE TROIKA of international lenders who support Greek finances have questioned some of the measures included in a €12bn (£9.6bn) austerity package prepared by the government, a senior Greek official said yesterday.
The inspectors from the European Commission, the ECB and the IMF returned to Athens on Friday to conclude a report on Greece’s progress in meeting the terms of its latest bailout.
That report will determine whether the government gets the additional aid it needs to avoid going bust – but inspectors want more information on the plan.
Athens wants two more years to push through reforms because of a deepening recession, but the lenders have demanded Greece first deliver on its pledges before seeking any concessions.
