Travelling in the wrong direction
[Re: Tory sleaze row, ongoing]
Boris Johnson’s behaviour resembles a candle in the wind, shift and changing as the breeze and tornadoes of public opinion blow.
His statement that breaches in conduct should be punished cut right across his defence of Owen Paterson.
I agree that this country isn’t corrupt; thankfully we have the press with holding him to account and calling out his consistently appalling behaviour. He aspires to be a Churchillian leader.
I think that legacy has now passed him by and his flame that is slowly burning this country down will hopefully be extinguished for good.

[Re: Heathrow queues are damaging London, November 10]
It took me 2.5 hours to get through Heathrow Border Control. I wrongly assumed it was related to extra Covid checks. Instead, there was only one member of staff checking documents. By this point a good chunk of queuers had removed their face coverings as the air con was insufficient to keep the room comfortable. While Heathrow “I’m here to help” staff were handing around water bottles the whole place was rammed to the rafters and clearly a Covid hazard, all because of a total lack of border staff.
As it happens, the border guy only checked my passport and none of the other paperwork now demanded by the government, again not sure how our foreign guests will have viewed this given the time and effort that goes into doing it.
