TRAVEL NOTES
HOLIDAY IN THE SKIES
It’s the only place on earth left – aside from subway trains (and not for long there) – that people are cut off from phones and internet. No wonder, then, that a recent survey from Delta finds that European business travelers see the aeroplane as a blissful escape rather than getting from A to B or a place to beef up on a presentation. They see their flight as a valuable place to unwind – over half say they use it as a place to read, watch movies and sleep and over 90 per cent care a lot about about food, drink and pampering.
BRITS LOVE NEW YORK
Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, the lure of the Big Apple persists, making New York the most popular destination for UK travellers in 2010, according to the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index
(HPI).
Britons flocked to the Big Apple undeterred by a 12 per cent rise in average room rates to £166 a night.
