Travel caterer SSP wins £500m deal to open 29 outlets at Oslo airport
Travel catering giant SSP has won a £500m contract to run 29 shops, cafes and restaurants at Oslo Airport Gardermoen in Norway.
The FTSE 250 franchise operator, which made its £1bn stock market debut last year, said it has secured a contract spanning five years for retail and seven years for the food and beverage, with the outlets due to open between 2016 and 2018.
Under the deal, SSP will launch several Scandinavian shops including an Aquavit Bar as well as other international franchises including a Starbucks coffee shop, and two concepts from Jamie Oliver including a bakery called Deli & Bakery by Jamie Oliver and Jamie’s Italian.
Morten Solberg Nilsen, managing director of SSP Norway and Denmark said: “SSP has been operating at Oslo Gardermoen since 1998, and we are delighted to be building on our relationship with the team here as the airport moves into a new era."

SSP has won a string of deals of late including a £196m contract this summer to run 14 units at Tampa International Airport in the US . In September is won a £48m deal to run six units at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, China.
The company operates over 2,000 shops and restaurants, mainly in airports and railway stations in 29 countries across the world. It runs franchises on behalf of hundreds of retailers including Marks and Spencer and also owns brands including sandwich chain Upper Crust.
