Tour’s London finish shake-up
CYCLING’S Tour of Britain is this year set to finish with a new route through central London which takes in Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, the Strand and Whitehall.
The 2015 edition of the eight-stage race, won last September by Dutchman Dylan van Baarle, will start in Wales for the first time and make its maiden visit to Edinburgh.
Lancashire returns to the route for the first time since 2010, with stage two running from Clitheroe to Colne, while stage five traces Hadrian’s Wall to Cumbria before concluding with the toughest summit finish in the race’s modern history, at Hartside Fell in the Pennines.
London has traditionally hosted the final stage but this year the 93km route, set for Sunday 13 September, has been altered and the finish switched from the Mall to Regent Street St James.
