Tour of Britain 2016 route map – where to watch the race, what time, and how to get there
The beginning of this week has proven that summer is well and truly over, but don’t let that dampen your spirits. After eight days of racing, the biggest cycling event in Britain is coming to London this Sunday, when the capital will once again host the final stage of the Tour of Britain.

What time does it start?
The 100km race around central London is set to get underway from 2:30pm and is expected to finish at 4:30pm.
The course
The race consistis of 16-laps of the circuit will begin at Regent Street, St James and ends in the same place, passing through sites such as Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square on every lap.
Where to watch it
Regent Street, St James
As the race kicks off and ends in the same place, it would be ideal if you’d like to see cyclists as they embark on the final stage of the race. You get to witness the dramatic conclusion to the race, see cyclists celebrate as they finish, and no doubt snap up some great photo opportunities.
Trafalgar Square
If you’d like to try your hand at some of the cycling-related activities on the day, then make your way here, where there will be plenty for spectators to try. It’s sure to get busy so leave yourself plenty of time to check it all out.
The route covers plenty of London landmarks along the way, so you can take your pick of your favourite spot. There is an abundance of amenities too, should you want to grab some lunch or do a bit of shopping.
Travel
TfL has advised road users to allow more time for journeys and to consider alternative routes due to road closures.
Regent Street at the junction with Conduit Street, Lower Regent Street and St James's will be closed from 03:00 – 23:00 on Sunday 11 September.
A longer list of roads which will be closed from 08:00 – 20:00 are available on the TFL website. Affected bus routes are also listed.
Tube and rail will be the best way to get around London on the day. Piccadilly Circus, Westminster, Charing Cross, St James’ Park and Leicester Square are expected to be even more manic than usual.
The weather
London will experience no showers in the forecast, but the Met Office has warned of cloudiness throughout the day, with periods of sunshine every now and again.
