Tour of Britain 2014 in pictures: Wiggins wins time trial in London as Cavendish narrowly misses out on final stage victory
British cycling fans made the most of some sumptuous September weather to see a number of the sport's biggest names race through London on the final day of the Tour of Britain.
Bradley Wiggins won Sunday's individual time trial, however Mark Cavendish narrowly missed out on joining his compatriot as a stage winner in the final 88km criterium race in Westminster later on in the day.
In a sprint finish, Cavendish was pipped to the post by German Marcel Kittel. In the final standings of the race, Wiggins was ultimately unable to defend his title, but still notched a podium finish for Team Sky with a third placed finish. Dutchman Dylan van Baarle won with an overall time of 32 hours, 22 minutes and 50 seconds.
The drama of the time trial and criterium events were played out against a backdrop of some of London's most beautiful and recognised streets – stretching from the Houses of Parliament to the Tower of London. You can take a look at the full route here.
