Tottenham hand rising star Kane second wage boost in six months
TOTTENHAM striker Harry Kane has vowed to stay humble despite landing a second pay rise of a breakthrough season.
Kane, who has gone from fringe player to first-team star by scoring 20 goals in 33 games this term, has signed a new contract until summer 2020 believed to be worth around £40,000 per week.
It comes less than six months after he agreed his previous deal, itself on improved terms of £20,000 per week and running until 2019.
“It’s been a great six months, I’ve been really pleased with the way it’s gone. Hopefully I can push on from this and get even better,” he said.
“I’m still only 21, so I’ve got a lot of football ahead of me. I just want to work hard, keep my feet on the floor and do the best I can for the team. Hopefully I can continue it until the end of the season and see where it takes us.”
Kane’s form has seen him tipped for a maiden call-up to the senior England squad next month, when they face a Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania and a friendly with Italy.
His goals have helped Tottenham reach the final of Capital One Cup, where they will meet Chelsea on 1 March, and to sixth place in the Premier League.
