Toroidion 1MW: This Finnish startup has created an electric supercar more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron
Electric cars have come a long way since the G-Whizz. A Finnish startup has unveiled a supercar designed to compete at Le Mans – and at 1,341 horsepower (that's 1,000 kW), it's more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron (1,200hp), and not far off the 1,400hp Koenigsegg One:1.
The Toroidion 1MW was unveiled yesterday at the Top Marques Monaco luxury car show. Admittedly, we're still light on the details – but at the moment, it's only at concept stage.

But it looks like the 1MW, which is road-legal, is also designed for everyday use: Toroidion founder Pasi Pennanen has said he wanted to create an "electric powertrain suitable for comfortable daily driving as well as for serious Le Mans racing, where safety and performance come first".
So there's a very real chance it will come to a showroom near you. Although given the company has been working on it since 2011, you may have to wait a while longer…
