Toormore triumph helps Hannon to glorious first day at Goodwood
TRAINER Richard Hannon enjoyed a fine start to Glorious Goodwood yesterday, notching two winners including Toormore in the Qatar Lennox Stakes.
It was a triumphant first race in Godolphin colours for the 9-4 joint favourite, who held off a challenge from Code Red to win by three quarters of a length under James Doyle. Hannon, who also won with Inland Sea, said of Toormore: “It was his first run for us and he’s a solid horse. He’s shown that again.”
Jockey Frankie Dettori piloted Galileo Gold, trained by the in-form Hugo Palmer, to victory in the Qatar Vintage Stakes.
