Tinder wants to make it easier for you to get a match
Here’s something worth swiping right over: wildly popular dating app Tinder has released an update making it easier for you to match with potential partners.
The soon to IPO app that’s boiled down the art of getting a date to a simple swipe left or right has enhanced its matching algorithm, with the official goal of “significantly” increasing the number of matches made.
"We’re on a mission to bring the world closer together through new connections. Today’s updates demonstrate our commitment to enhancing the connectivity that our users are experiencing,” said Ryan Ogle, chief technical officer of Tinder.
As well as tinkering with the mysterious inner workings of its algorithm, the dating app has changed its messaging interfaces and expanded profile features. From now on, it’ll be possible to include job and education information, lest anyone waste time swiping right on someone with a completely undesirable job – like a financial journalist, perhaps?
Today’s update also follows on the recent introduction of the “Super Like”, a swipe up motion for all those times when showing you like the look of someone the regular way just doesn’t cut it.
Tinder is part of US firm IAC's Match Group, which also includes Match.com, OK Cupid and 40 other dating brands, which announced its intention to float back in June. One Barclays analyst estimated it would value the group at $5.7bn and that Tinder alone could be worth $2bn.
