THREE OTHER CITY SLICKERS
RHODES 24
Sitting at the top of Tower 42, Gary Rhodes has got himself a perfect spot in which to dazzle City high-flyers. Dishes are named after their bare ingredients, from lobster (glazed lobster omelette thermidor) to rabbit (potted, with potato and bacon salad) and are – on the whole – done well. 25 Old Broad St, EC2N 1HQ, tel: 020 7877 7703
BOUNDARY
Terence Conran’s chic dungeon restaurant in Shoreditch, serving French classics from rotisserie veal and coq au vin to stranger things such as kale salad and obscure French egg dishes. It’s a raging success though, due to that Conran way of combining style and substance with a big dose of je ne sais quoi. 3 Boundary St, E2 7JE, tel: 020 7729 1051
L’ANIMA
Seen by many as the best Italian in London, L’Anima does sleek luxe like none other in the City – white leather, pearly bar, glass walls, heavenly snacks (the pork belly is a must), and a pricey menu make it an automatic winner. The wine list is unique and quirky, presided over by an almost maniacally dedicated sommelier. 1 Snowden St, EC2A 2DQ, tel: 020 7422 7000
