Thorpe Park tempts pensioners with special offers to hop on rides
Thorpe Park has introduced a discounted pass for pensioners after the theme park saw a four per cent year-on-year increase from visitors aged 65 and over.
However, a survey by Thorpe Park found that 26 per cent of pensioners said they felt discriminated against due to their age when taking part in leisure activities in the UK.
“We’ve always encouraged visitors of all ages to experience what our theme park has to offer and it’s brilliant to see so many over 65’s enjoying the theme park experience,” said James Walker, marketing director at Thorpe Park.
“We’ve introduced the Old Aged Coaster pass to celebrate our increasing number of older visitors and to encourage the whole family, from grandparent to grandchild to come and visit Thorpe Park Resort.”
Last month Thorpe Park owner Merlin Entertainments revealed revenue had fallen seven per cent year-on-year, as the company has “continued to experience lower visitation at Alton Towers following the accident in June 2015”.
A crash on the Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers left 16 people injured last summer.
