Thomas Cook sells holiday extras business Essential Travel for £2m
THOMAS COOK yesterday sold its travel add-ons website Essential Travel to rival firm the Holiday Extras Group for £2.1m.
The company said that it will still offer its customers the same services after striking a deal for Holiday Extras to be its exclusive distributor of certain extra travel products such as airport parking, airport hotels and travel insurance.
The deal is the latest in a string of disposals to pay down debts and turn itself around, including the sale of its corporate foreign exchange business for £4.5m, and its stake in NATS, the national air traffic control service, for £38m last month.
Green said: “The sale of Essential Travel builds on our previously announced strategy of simplifying our brands and applying an intense business focus on our core assets to deliver sustained profitable growth.”
