Thomas Cook cabin crew are going on strike
Thomas Cook cabin crew will go on strike, as part of an going row over health and safety concerns.
Members of Unite the Union have just voted three-to-one, according to widespread reports.
A union spokeswoman told City A.M. a statement would be issued shortly. Thomas Cook had not responded to requests for a response at the time of publication.
Staff voted on the move after the holiday firm implemented changes to their rest breaks, which Unite has previously claimed will mean they are left with just one 20 minute break in a 12 hour shift. Previously they had a 20 minute break every six hours.
The union has previously warned that the measures would put passenger safety at risk.
Staff who work on flights to popular tourist destinations from 10 airports across the UK closes were balloted.
It is thought industrial action may be scheduled to take place during half term – a critical time in the operator's schedule.
Last week, Thomas Cook revealed summer bookings were down, having been affected by the spate of terror attacks in Europe, Turkey and Tunisia over the last year.
