Things looking better for Everton thanks to Arteta
EVERTON moved two points clear of the relegation zone after Mikel Arteta’s 83rd minute strike helped his side salvage a 2-2 draw at Sunderland.
Tim Cahill had put the visitors into an early sixth minute lead when he powered home Leighton Baines’ cross with a trademark header for his seventh goal of the season.
Sunderland responded midway through the first-half when Danny Welbeck stabbed home at the near post, and the Manchester United loanee looked to have sealed maximum points for Steve Bruce’s side when he helped Kieran Richardson’s cross up and over Tim Howard with 20 minutes left.
But Arteta secured a deserved point for Everton with strike which took a cruel deflection off Phil Bardsley.
