the INSIDER
DRUMFIRE will be running at Glorious Goodwood twice in a week if he turns up for today’s Coutts Glorious Stakes at 2.10pm. Based on his demolition of a competitive field on Tuesday, he could well hit the net again, but I’m going to side with Breeder’s Cup Marathon winner MUHANNAK who is out to prove he’s no one hit wonder.
Goodwood is quite a difficult course and for the equine stars of the show it can be very ‘Marmite’. Therefore, it often pays to follow previous course and distance winners and in the 2.45pm contest one really does catch the eye. PHANTOM WHISPER (e/w) won’t mind cut in the ground, has a favourable high draw and is six pounds lower than when he won over course and distance last year.
SHOWCASING is on my list of horses to follow until they are beaten and so I will be backing this son of Oasis Dream in the Richmond Stakes at 4.00pm.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s card and there are a lot of in-form horses declared for the Bluesquare.com Stewards’ Cup. I’m sure that there will be some special bets available come race time and look out for any fancy prices about Dandy Nicholls being the winning trainer. With six declared runners in the race he holds a very strong hand – yet, picking his best chance is nigh on impossible. However, I’m going to look outside his stable for the winner and put my trust in MAC GILLE EOIN (e/w) to bring home the spoils.
