TFI Friday to return with Chris Evans in hot seat after anniversary show scored blockbusting ratings for Channel 4
Channel 4 is bringing back iconic 1990s music TV show TFI Friday with host Chris Evans at the helm once again.
The eight-part series will begin this autumn, although an exact transmission date has not been set.
Channel 4 gained one of its best ratings for the 20th anniversary show (officially its 19th, but who's counting?) that aired on 12th June, drawing a peak audience of 4.2m, beating all its terrestrial competitors, and 30 per cent of the available 16 to 34 year-old viewers.
And with more than 90,000 tweets – an average of 519 tweets-per-minute – TFI Friday was also the most talked about programme of the week.
Evans, who has just signed up to become the new face of BBC2 series Top Gear, said:
Oh my goodness, are we really going to get to do this again? Looks like it – and leading into Christmas too. I might actually spontaneously explode on live television due to over excited-ness. Does that still count as unpredictable cos I've said it now?

Not only that but Will Macdonald – he of Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllll fame – will be back as executive producer, alongside Clare Barton and Suzi Aplin.
Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s creative officer, added: “Chris is the best of the best of live broadcasters and I never doubted for a moment that this TFI would live up to expectations.”
