Tata Steel fire put out after “hundred foot flames” at Port Talbot plant as coke ovens reportedly explode
A huge blaze has been put out at Tata Steel's plant in Port Talbot, Wales this morning, after an explosion caused "massive hundred-foot flames".
Fire crews, ambulance and police are at the scene of the works from 8am this morning, after smoke was seen for miles around. Firefighters have now brought the blaze under control.
A Welsh Ambulance spokesman told the South Wales Evening Post there were no reports of injuries currently.
One eyewitness, Mike O’Neill, told the publication: “My car shook with the explosion as I drove past. I can see massive hundred-foot flames. There was also a huge plume of black smoke.”
Another said it was the coke ovens that had exploded.
