TalkTalk customer base hits 4m as it signs new Sky Sports deal
TALKTALK will begin offering its customers £9.99 pay-per-day access to Sky’s sport channels as part of a new three year wholesale deal with the satellite broadcaster.
The deal was announced along with TalkTalk’s third quarter results which showed a 5.1 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to £436m, and 175,000 new TV customers during the period, bringing its customer base to 4m.
“We’re delighted with the growth of the TV business… we added more TV customers than Sky, Virgin and BT all put together in the quarter,” TalkTalk chief executive Dido Harding told City A.M.
Harding said that an equivalent wholesale deal with BT for its sport channels would be unlikely. “The value that we place and our customers place on BT Sport and the value that BT places on it are two very different numbers, so I’m not expecting any movement on that for the foreseeable future.”
