Taghrooda loses unbeaten record
TRAINER Aidan O’Brien enjoyed a second major success in as many days at York yesterday when 8-1 shot Tapestry shocked 1-5 favourite Taghrooda to win the Darley Yorkshire Oaks.
Previously unbeaten Taghrooda took the lead two furlongs out but was tracked by Tapestry, and Ryan Moore conjured an extra kick from the filly in the final 50 yards to win by half a length.
O’Brien, who landed the Juddmonte International Stakes with Australia on Wednesday, said: “Ryan has given her a peach today. She’s really been coming forwards with every run this season.”
Trainer John Gosden said October’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe remained Taghrooda’s target.
