Swansea close in on securing deal for Sevilla striker Fernando Llorente as Tottenham offload winger
Swansea City have moved a step closer to bolstering their forward line by agreeing a deal last night to sign Spain international Fernando Llorente from reigning Europa League champions Sevilla.
No transfer fee has been announced although the 31-year-old former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao striker is expected to sign a two-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.
“It has come a long way with Swansea to reach an agreement,” said Sevilla sporting director Monchi.
Llorente won five major trophies, including three Serie A titles, during a two-year spell with Juventus, while also appearing as a substitute in the 2015 Champions League final when the Old Lady were beaten by Barcelona in Berlin.
He has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Spain but found first-team opportunities at Sevilla limited last season and largely perforned the role of Kevin Gameiro’s understudy, making just 14 starts.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have offloaded winger Alex Pritchard to Championship side Norwich City for an undisclosed fee, believed to the in the region of £8m.
