Survey: Skimpy pay packets stop most Londoners from buying dream home
Skimpy pay packets were the most likely reason Londoners could not get their dream home, according to a survey today, as the average budget for a capital property has swelled to £384,130.
Earnings stopped 33.05 per cent of those surveyed by Money, while deposit building and mortgage availability were the next two big worries for city dwellers looking to settle.
Bedrooms and outside space were most alluring to Londoners wanting to buy, while just 13.39 per cent cared about a cracking view.
Size and quality of bedrooms or balconies were the biggest considerations while having local shops was also crucial to 31.36 per cent of those surveyed.
Transport links were of the second-highest importance, according to Money, with 30.34 per cent scouting out nearby connections before sealing the deal.
Nearby parks and local environment also helped Londoners pluck out their dream property, particularly after a string of lockdown measures.
Outside of the capital, the most expensive city in the country, budgets for homes in Glasgow were the smallest, at an average of £185,334.
Brighton and Bristol closely followed London, with budgets of £307,292 and £298,077 respectively.
