SuperGroup stuns investors with operations chief’s swift extraction
THE OWNER of the Superdry clothing brand SuperGroup was hit during early trading yesterday after its operations chief Susanne Given’s shock departure from the firm.
SuperGroup said her role would be “absorbed by the executive team”, with the heads of UK retail, IT and logistics reporting directly to CEO Euan Sutherland.
In October Superdry founder Julian Dunkerton said: “Susanne is doing a really important job. We couldn’t extract her from that role.”
She joined in April 2012 from John Lewis, and was credited for turning the Superdry brand around. But she was snubbed from the top role at SuperGroup in favour of Sutherland, who was then CEO of the Co-op Group.
The news sent shares down by 2.7 per cent in early trading, but losses were pared to close flat at 1,059p in London.
