Sterling and Suarez combine to cruise past timid Black Cats
LIVERPOOL 3 vs SUNDERLAND 0
LIVERPOOL striker Luis Suarez scored a brace in a comfortable victory over Sunderland at Anfield last night.
Suarez set up teenager Raheem Sterling to open the scoring with a delicate lob over Simon Mignolet from the edge of the area in the 19th minute.
The Uruguay star then pounced upon sluggish Sunderland defending to double Liverpool’s advantage on 26 minutes, brushing off Carlos Cuellar to fire in an angled drive.
Suarez then added his 15th Premier League goal of the season with a close-range strike, chesting down Steven Gerrard’s fine 60-yard pass to wrap up the points.
The easy win handed Liverpool back-to-back league wins for the second time this season, while Sunderland slump to a second successive defeat after the 2-1 loss at Tottenham on Saturday. New Reds signing Daniel Sturridge was in attendance as Sunderland extended their record of never winning at Anfield in the Premier League.
