St-Johnston and Blain join Mint Partners
VETERAN financiers Bill Blain and Jim St-Johnston announced yesterday that they are to join brokerage Mint Partners, after leaving previous employers Newedge in July.
Blain told City A.M. that Mint, which is a subdivision of New York-based financial services firm BGC Partners, had the “right kind of attitude” and fit with the duo’s “ambition to create a knowledge and expertise based brokering business”.
“The old paradigm of bank driven liquidity has been stifled by the morass of Basel III and regulatory gridlock – and the need for independent knowledge-based brokers to stimulate moribund market liquidity has never been higher,” he said in his statement.
Asked about his longstanding partnership with St-Johnston, Blain told City A.M.: “Jim and I are very much a team.”
