Spurs reinforce defensive ranks with Yedlin deal
TOTTENHAM Hotspur have reinforced their future defensive ranks by sealing the transfer of United States international right-back DeAndre Yedlin from Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders, for a fee said to be £2.5m.
The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract at White Hart Lane but will continue to play in America before linking up with his new Spurs team-mates ahead of next season.
The defender has seven international caps to his name and caught the eye with some prominent substitute appearances during this year’s World Cup in Brazil as the United States reached the last-16 before being eliminated by Belgium.
Yedlin joins Swansea duo Ben Davies and Michel Vorm as well as Sporting Lisbon’s England Under-21 defender Eric Dier in agreeing terms at Tottenham during the close season.
