Beckham wants England recall
FOOTBALL: Former captain David Beckham wants an England return, despite having not won a cap in two years. The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has not played for his country since earning his 115th cap in the 3-0 victory over Belarus at Wembley in October 2009. “I’m playing well, I’m still fit and I haven’t retired from international football,” said the 36-year-old.
London 2017 bid on course
ATHLETICS: UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner says London’s bid to host the 2017 World Championships is “in really good shape”. Warner believes the removal of uncertainty over the future of the Olympic Stadium has put the capital in with a real chance of winning next week’s vote.
